Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and US President Donald Trump have held a joint press statement at the presidential palace in Ankara, highlighting bilateral ties and Türkiye’s growing role in defence, EDnews reports.
Erdoğan welcomed Trump to the Turkish capital and expressed satisfaction with the US president’s visit.
Trump said Erdoğan has earned “special respect” around the world, describing Türkiye as a strong country, particularly in the defence sector.
The US president praised the development of Türkiye’s defence industry under Erdoğan’s leadership, saying the country has made significant progress in the field.
“We will discuss many issues during the bilateral meeting,” Trump said.
The leaders’ remarks came as Ankara hosts the NATO summit, bringing together alliance leaders to discuss security challenges, defence cooperation and regional issues.
