Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the country's troops in the city of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region, the presidential office reported on Tuesday.
Ednews reports citing The Times that the leader thanked the soldiers for their service and sacrifice and presented the servicemen with state awards. Avdiivka suffered heavy bombing by the Russian military, with the city's military head recently saying it begins "to like a place from post-apocalyptic movies."
The visit comes as Kiev today warned that intensified air strikes on the region's hotspot Bakhmut are "turning the city into ruins."
