Ziad al-Nakhala, the leader of the Islamic Jihad, claimed on Sunday that his group currently holds more than 30 Israeli prisoners in undisclosed areas, according to local media reports.
This revelation has sparked international concern, given the heightened tensions between Israel and Palestinian factions amid Hamas's recent attacks on Israel. Al-Nakhala also expressed his willingness to engage in negotiations for a prisoner exchange with Israel as he pointed out that previous attempts at engagement by Israel have been lacking.
Additionally, Al-Nakhala stated that the prisoners will not be returned "till all of our prisoners are released," in reference to Palestinian detainees held in Israeli prisons.
