“The awarding of the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev demonstrates that in recent years Azerbaijan has become a recognized actor not only in political and economic terms, but also in the moral and humanitarian sphere. Naturally, particular emphasis should be placed on the substance of the policies pursued by President Ilham Aliyev, his internationally established personal credibility, and his peace-based approach in managing complex processes.”
These remarks were made by Umud Mirzayev, President of the International Eurasia Press Fund, in a statement to EDnews. He noted that the evaluation of the head of state within the context of this award indicates that the political course shaped under President Aliyev’s leadership aligns precisely with these values at the international level:
“Azerbaijan is recognized as a country that, even in a complex regional environment, does not deepen confrontation but instead demonstrates a responsible model of conduct. From this perspective, President Ilham Aliyev’s participation in the signing ceremony of the Charter of the Peace Council within the framework of the World Economic Forum held in Davos, as well as Azerbaijan’s accession to the Peace Council, serves as an important confirmation that the peace agenda put forward by our country has been accepted at the global level.”
Umud Mirzayev also emphasized that the official visit of UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Karabakh last year, along with the high-level meetings held during the visit, demonstrated that bilateral relations have moved beyond the framework of ordinary diplomacy and acquired deeper political substance. His visit to Karabakh was a significant political event confirming the international recognition—particularly in the Arab world—of the new regional realities created by Azerbaijan in the post-conflict period. In this context, President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to the United Arab Emirates serves as a logical continuation of the previously established political dialogue and atmosphere of trust:
“President Ilham Aliyev’s speech at the award ceremony clarified the true essence of this distinction. In particular, the steps taken toward the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the removal of restrictions, and the launch of economic and humanitarian cooperation were cited in the President’s address as facts demonstrating that peace has already entered a practical phase. At the same time, the symbolic significance of holding the ceremony in Abu Dhabi was specially highlighted. The fact that negotiations conducted here later resulted in historic agreements in Washington is regarded as a contribution by the UAE and its President, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to the peace process. Thus, this award and the award ceremony once again clearly demonstrated how Azerbaijan’s peace-oriented policy pursued in recent years is perceived within the international context.”
