Last year in Astana, we declared our efforts to help build a community with a shared future for mankind together with President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China.According to EDnews, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said this in an interview with China’s Xinhua News Agency.
They advocated for peace, development, equal rights, justice, democracy, and freedom, as well as for promoting humanity’s shared values in opposition to hegemony and power politics. We expressed our determination to support the international system under the auspices of the UN, its role in global affairs, genuine multilateralism, and a world order based on international law, the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.
“As I’ve already said, as part of the Global South, we have always defended its interests. From 2019 to 2023, Azerbaijan chaired the Non-Aligned Movement, which is the second-largest international organization after the UN. This organization accounts for 80 percent of the world’s population, around 50 percent of global GDP, and about half of the total volume of international trade. The participation of the Global South in building a more sustainable, fair, and secure world order is a natural process,” President Ilham Aliyev emphasized.
