Following the passing of Pope Francis on April 21, 2025, the Italian Embassy in Azerbaijan has opened a Book of Condolence at its premises in Baku. The embassy announced via its official ''X'' account that the book is available for signing by citizens and all those wishing to pay their respects. Visitors can leave messages on April 24 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, and on April 25 during two sessions: 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
In addition, EDnews inform that, the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Baku has also opened a condolence book. According to the Apostolic Prefecture of the Catholic Church in Azerbaijan, the book is open from April 22 to 26, daily between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM, and from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM .
Pope Francis, born Jorge Mario Bergoglio, served as the 266th pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church from 2013 until his death at the age of 88 . His funeral is scheduled for April 26 at St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City, with numerous global leaders expected to attend .These condolence books in Baku provide an opportunity for the Azerbaijani public to honor Pope Francis’s legacy and express their sympathies during this period of global mourning.
