Today is the next anniversary of the terrorist act committed at the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy.
EDnews informs that 16 years have passed since the terrorist act.The tragedy that resulted in mass murder occurred on April 30, 2009 in the second building of the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy located at 227 Dilara Aliyeva Street, Baku.
A Georgian citizen, Gadirov Farda Asad oglu, born in 1980, who entered the building of the higher education institution, opened fire from a Makarov-type pistol at everyone he encountered from the first to the sixth floor of the administrative building. As a result, 12 people died and 13 were injured. The perpetrator committed suicide by shooting himself with a gun in his hand on the top floor of the building.
An operational investigation group consisting of employees of the Prosecutor General's Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs was established in connection with the incident. As a result of the measures taken, many of the individuals associated with F. Gadirov were brought to criminal responsibility. It was determined that the customer of the mass murder was a Georgian citizen of Armenian origin, Mardun Gumashyan.
According to the materials of the criminal case, Gumashyan Mardun Grigorievich, who ordered the terrorist act at the Oil Academy, was born on March 6, 1951 in the village of Shulaver, Marneuli district, Georgia. An international search was announced for Mardun Gumashyan through Interpol. The part of the criminal case against him in connection with the death of Farda Gadirov was terminated.
By the verdict of the Court for Grave Crimes dated August 10, 2010, the defendants in the case- Nadir Aliyev, Javidan Amirov, Najaf Suleymanov - were sentenced to life imprisonment, and Ariz Gabulov - to 11 years in prison.It should be noted that, in accordance with the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan dated September 3, 2015, the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy was renamed the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University.
