"Demarcation process is quite complicated. We talked about the maps," Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany Annalena Baerbock said at a press conference held after meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov today, Ednews reports.
Minister noted that Germany and the EU are ready to support both countries on the path to peace.
"Discussion in the European format can bring long-term peace to the region. We have a perspective for the next meeting. We will work on building trust. There are mined areas in and around Garabagh. Thousands of people are being killed. These incidents break people's hearts. We have been informed about this. We want to support Azerbaijan on the process of demining. I presented the demining project to my Azerbaijani counterpart. Our cooperation with Azerbaijan in promoting the Ottawa Convention is important," Baerbock stated.
The German minister said that Azerbaijan sends positive signals regarding the return of Armenian-origin residents to Garabagh, and this gives reason to be optimistic.
