The first stage of the Great Return program is planned to be completed by the end of 2026, by which time 140,000 former internally displaced persons will have returned to Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur in Azerbaijan, Report informs referring to the Rehabilitation, Construction and Management Service in the city of Khankandi, Aghdara and Khojaly regions.
According to EDnews as many as 85 families have resettled to the city of Khojaly to date, and 172 families to the village of Ballicha in the Khojaly region.
A total of 1,152 people have settled in Khojaly. Resettlement continues not only in Khojaly, but also in Aghdara. Some 70 families have resettled to the village of Hasanriz in the Aghdara region, 180 families to the village of Sugovushan, and 20 families to the village of Talish. In total, 921 people currently live in the villages of Aghdara.
The second stage of the Great Return program will consist of three phases and will cover the years 2026-2040, and the process will be completed by 2040.
