The European Council meeting has kicked off in Brussels, the capital of Belgium and European politics.
As per Report, the two-day meeting of EU leaders will be chaired by EC President Antonio Costa.
EU leaders are meeting in Brussels to discuss geoeconomic challenges and the ongoing developments in Ukraine and the Middle East.
The agenda also includes European defence and security, migration, preparedness, Moldova’s EU accession process, the situation in the Western Balkans, as well as internal security and countering hybrid threats.
"We will address several issues that must be tackled together to advance our common ambitions: to build a more competitive, safer and more autonomous Europe for our citizens, and to ensure that the European Union can be an effective, predictable and reliable global actor," Costa said in a message publiched by the EC.
In addition, the introduction of the 18th package of sanctions against Russia is planned at today's summit.
