The draft for the nationalization of Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC is ready and will be considered at an extraordinary session of parliament on July 1, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said, EDnews report citing the local press.
In particular, Pashinyan intends to put a certain block of shares of the company on the stock exchange so that anyone can buy them. The issue was discussed with the board of the Civil Contract party, and then in parliament and the government.
He said that he recently attended the opening of the Homplex Hyper Mall shopping center, where a power outage took place.
"There are two options - either sabotage, or the network is technically unable to service new subscribers. In both cases, the conclusion is the same - we need to move on to the process that was discussed earlier. This process needs to be carried out in stages, but quickly," Pashinyan said.
The owner of the company is Samvel Karapetyan, a Russian businessman of Armenian origin, who was arrested on June 18.
