Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has reaffirmed that Greenland is not for sale, saying Denmark expects its allies to respect the country's sovereignty.
Speaking at the NATO summit in Ankara, Frederiksen stressed that Greenland, a semi-autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, is not up for negotiation.
Her remarks came just hours after US President Donald Trump renewed his interest in taking control of the Arctic island.
Frederiksen said Denmark expects its partners to respect its territorial integrity and sovereignty, reiterating Copenhagen’s long-standing position that Greenland’s future will be determined by its people and remains part of the Danish realm.
