The Russian Sputnik V vaccine will not be registered in Ukraine under any circumstances, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov has said.

"The Russian Sputnik V vaccine will not be registered under any circumstances," the minister said during an hour of questions to the government held in the Verkhovna Rada on March 5, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Responding to a comment that the Russian vaccine was registered in a number of EU countries, Stepanov noted that Russia had not "occupied part of the territory" of those countries.

Vaccination against coronavirus in Ukraine started on February 24.

On February 23, 500,000 doses of the Oxford/AstraZeneca (Covishield) vaccine, purchased at the expense of the state budget, were delivered to Ukraine.

The Health Ministry expects to receive another 1.5 million doses of the Covishield vaccine by March 31. In early March, 117,000 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine are expected to be delivered to Ukraine as part of the global COVAX Facility.
