Famous French photographer, writer, film director Gregory Herpe visited the cities of Lachin and Nakhchivan as part of his trip to Azerbaijan, Ednews informs, citing the State Committee for Work with Diaspora.
The trip organized by the Association of Friends of Azerbaijan in France started from the city of Lachin.
Gregory Herpe, who called the restoration and construction work carried out by the Azerbaijani state in a short period of time in the city of Lachin a great project, admitted that he was very impressed and surprised by what he saw in the city. He emphasized the return of the population to Lachin, the revival of life there, and said the city may soon host various international festivals and events.
Then the photographer left for the city of Nakhchivan. He got acquainted with the historical, cultural and religious monuments in the ancient city of Azerbaijan, such as Nakhchivangala, Noah's Tomb, Ashabi-Kahf, Gamigaya, Alinja Castle, Momina Khatun Tomb, Heydar Aliyev Mosque, Heydar Aliyev Museum and wrote his heartfelt words in the memorial books. The photographer also filmed the famous Batabat lake and the Duzdag physiotherapy center.
Gregory Herpe thanked the State Committee for Work with Diaspora for organizing this visit. The guest was accompanied by Mehri Guliyeva, deputy chairman of the Azerbaijan house in Paris, project manager of the Association of Friends of Azerbaijan in France, Arif Abbasov and Aydin Mahmudov, employees of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora.
The French photographer previously visited Karabakh in 2021 and 2022 with the support of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora and the organization of the Association of Friends of Azerbaijan in France. During the visits, he filmed the historical and cultural heritage destroyed as a result of the thirty-year occupation of Armenia, and the restoration and construction, as well as demining works carried out by the Azerbaijani side.
Those photos were exhibited at the fairs “Karabakh: in peacetime" at the Azerbaijani Cultural Center in Paris and "Karabakh after the war" at the Altiero Spinelli building of the European Parliament.
The photographer, one of the contemporary representatives of world fine art, was born on February 25, 1969 in France. He works as a photojournalist at Polaris Images in New York and Sopa Images in Hong Kong.
While in Azerbaijan in 2019, the photographer shared his good impressions of Baku in the British edition of London Street Art Design magazine: "If you are a fan of architecture and design, Baku is the right place for you. When you walk through this ancient city, you are struck by many architectural styles."
At the same time, during the 44-day Patriotic War, he supported Azerbaijan in his speechs and articles.
