In order to clarify the subsequent fate of citizens who went missing due to Armenia's military aggression against Azerbaijan, search, excavation, and exhumation works in the territories liberated from occupation are ongoing by the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Persons along with relevant state institutions and ANAMA, Ednews reports.
It was noted that the planting of landmines, installation of mine traps, as well as excessive contamination of territories with unexploded ordnance by Armenia during the period of occupation and even during the post-conflict period, create a serious obstacle to the search, excavation, and exhumation works on the grave sites presumed to be belonging to missing persons in addition to delaying the restoration and reconstruction works in the region, the process of the return of former internally displaced persons to their lands.
