The Armenian Investigative Committee has launched a criminal case against the high-ranking representative of the Armenian Ministry of Defense for receiving a valuable gift from a Russian arms company and preventing a ministry official from operating as an ORSIS representative in the country. Eurasia Diary reports that Russian arms company ORSIS was planning to sell new weapons to Armenia.
According to RIA Novosti, in 2019, ORSIS was included in the black list of the Armenian Defense Ministry.
Later, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Commerce asked the Minister of Defense of Armenia, David Tonoyan, to consider the issue without considering the decision of ORSIS.
The first criminal case under article "negligence" was launched in connection with the tender.
The Armenian lawyer representing ORSIS in Armenia said the company was removed from the blacklist.
