Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on Monday that the first stage of the Pacific Fleet military readiness check was held at a very high level, Ednews informs via Daily Mail.
Speaking in a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu, Putin congratulated the fleet on its performance during the surprise inspection. The minister reported that more than 25,000 military personnel, 167 vessels, 12 submarines and 89 aircraft participated in the drills.
The final stage will be held on April 18 and will involve strategic missile carriers flying to the central part of the Pacific Ocean and performing mock strikes against ship groups. Earlier today, the United States, South Korea and Japan held trilateral missile defense military exercises in the East Sea.
