The European Union and Chile signed two cooperation initiatives on renewable hydrogen on Wednesday during European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen's visit to the South American country, Ednews reports.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Von der Leyen, Chilean President Gabriel Boric stated the signed instruments will "promote the green hydrogen industry in our country, whose development will undoubtedly contribute to improving the quality of life of Chileans." Von der Leyen noted the two sides agreed to launch a fund for renewable hydrogen with an initial budget of €225 million and added that today's actions will support the development of Chile's green hydrogen industry, boost its exports of renewable hydrogen and create jobs.
Earlier this week, the EU signed a memorandum of understanding on Critical Raw Materials with Argentina.
