Former United States Vice President and GOP candidate for the 2024 nomination Mike Pence traveled to Ukraine on Thursday for a surprise visit. He met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, becoming the first Republican primary candidate to do so.
Pence told NBC News that seeing the situation in Ukraine firsthand "just steels my resolve to do my part, to continue to call for strong American support for our Ukrainian friends and allies." He added that "I truly do believe that now, more than ever, we need leaders in our country who will articulate the importance of American leadership in the world."
