The United States announced it will cooperate with the Costa Rican government on semiconductors as the US strives to diversify and grow its chip partnerships.
The State Department said the first step will include a review of Costa Rica’s current semiconductor industry development, regulatory framework, and workforce and infrastructure needs, which will then impact the direction of future collaboration. The bilateral cooperation stems from US President Joe Biden's signature CHIPS Act, which provided the State Department with $100 million per year over five years to expand global semiconductor manufacturing and secure supply chains.
