The Swedish Foreign Ministry has been in close contact with the Consulate General in Istanbul since the shooting incident in Izmir, the ministry's press service informed the media, Ednews informs.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms the incident and is in close dialogue with the Consulate General in Istanbul and our staff. The Consulate General, in turn, is in contact with the Honorary Consulate in Izmir and the local authorities,” the Foreign Ministry said.
“The Consul General of Sweden is going to Izmir tomorrow to get acquainted with the situation. The suspected perpetrator has been detained, and Turkish police are investigating the incident.”
The Foreign Ministry did not comment on the threats that exist concerning its representation, or what security measures are being taken.
