Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said that Moscow is "not surprised" that the US is claiming Russia is trying to interfere in elections in numerous countries.
Asked about the US intelligence report that alleged Russia has "engaged in a concerted effort … to undermine public confidence in at least 11 elections across nine democracies" between 2020 and 2022, Antonov stated he is not "familiar" with such a document but noted he can "assume with a high degree of confidence that this opus is a compilation of outright speculation, gossip and complete Russophobic attacks."
The Russian ambassador also slammed Washington for showing a "disinterest in pragmatic cooperation" by casting Russia "as an implacable enemy" and criticized the US for bringing the bilateral ties between the two countries to a "dead end."
