The White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told journalists at a briefing on Monday that President Joe Biden will be running for re-election in 2024.
It has caused a strange reaction in social media as there is an observance of the decline of Biden’s approval ratings among the American population over his unsuccessful policies.
It should be noted that President Biden has not promoted any successful policy in domestic and foreign affairs of the United States since he came to power. We know that in August he withdrew all American troops from Afghanistan amid Taliban's takeover of the country, which caused the decline of US's reputation in the international arena.
At the same time, the level of popularity among the population for Biden has decreased from 60 % to 20 %. According to a preliminary survey, over 56 percent of respondents oppose his presidency.
By the way, he is 78 years old. He has mental and health problems at this age.
How is it believable to see that Biden will be running his candidacy for the next presidential elections in 2024?
Speaking to Eurasia Diary, Fuad Chiragov, expert of the Centre of Analysis of International Relations, noted that it is still early to predict what will happen till 2024.
“It is now difficult to say who will run for Office in the next presidential election. However, according to all information we have it is unlikely that Joe Biden will be in a capacity to run for the next Presidential campaign. I mean problems in the mental and physical condition of Joe Biden are well-known and already can't be hidden from the public,” – he noted.
According to his opinion, the main reason behind Psaki’s statement is that the Biden administration wants to indicate that Democrats are ready for the next Congress and presidential elections in coming years.
“We can understand why Jen Psaki confirmed that Joe Biden will run in 2024, they just couldn't say any other way. Now for the administration it is important to show that the President is in good shape and he has control over the development,” – he said.
“Before the presidential election there is a very important election for Congress next year and prospects for democrats according to the observers are gloomy, therefore the current administration can't show any weakness before this very important election,” he added.
