It's been a few days since the New Year, and it seems that a new player change will take place in the South Caucasus this year.
Thus, it has been said that Germany is ready to provide financial support to Armenia if it takes a number of steps against Russia, including forcing the Russian border guards to leave the country and getting rid of its "pro-Russians" inside the government. Most certainly that Germany is interested in the quick withdrawal of Russian border guards from Armenia, offering financial support to Yerevan for these and other anti-Russian steps.
It seems that Germany has seriously strengthened its anti-Russian policy. If earlier it was not a significant player in the South Caucasus region and the Caspian Sea, today we see that it already has certain positions under the observation of the EU. The mission in Armenia is engaged by the representatives of Germany, and the foreign policy intelligence of Germany actively participates in Armenia and regulates the processes in the country. It is obvious that Germany and France coordinated their efforts in the direction of Armenia within the framework of establishing a common policy to suppress Russia in the post-Soviet space. However, especially the change of prime minister in France and the recent tensions between Azerbaijan and France, it can be expected that France will take a break from its relative activity in the region.
But what about Germany? How will this player (France) change in the region affect the area and what should be expected?
Signs of this activity could be seen during the visits of German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock in early November of the year we left behind. During her visit, Mrs. Baerbock came to say that she is here to protect the interests of peace in the region, but she made diplomatic mistakes by calling Khankandi and Shusha by the names of the so-called regime in the press conference she held together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov. As I mentioned in my previous post that the real purpose of her visit at that time was probably to check Azerbaijan's desire and ability to supply Germany with energy. However, it seems that the balanced policy of Azerbaijan did not work for her.
Now, the target is Armenia. The goal here is quite clear. Same as the main goals of France and the USA, Germany has the same one as well: to use Armenia as a "puppet". Seeing the proposals made by the European Union (EU) to Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia, Armenia's eyes are shining. But the Yerevan government should know that Brussels' money is already running out. This rapprochement will only harm Armenia on the way to peace.
In the interview that President Ilham Aliyev gave to television channels on 10th of January, this issue was touched upon in a very professional manner and the necessary messages were sent. Among them were messages addressed to Armenian society, its leaders and patrons. He pointed out that the Armenian authorities are not focused on the peace process, but on external forces and patrons.
"I must also state that, unlike them(Armenia), we sent our comments not after 70 days, but after 30 days, and two weeks after that, they sent new comments on the 4th of this month. Then a question still arises: If these comments can be given in two weeks, why did you wait for 70 days last time? In other words, my hypothesis is fully proven," Ilham Aliyev emphasized.
With this message, the head of state revealed Yerevan's non-seriousness in the peace process.
Although there is no similarity in terms of political terrain, what happened in Ukraine and Georgia at one time should be a lesson for Armenia, and it should fulfill its obligations in the peace agreement.
