The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) released the results of the UN Global Survey on Digital and Sustainable Trade Facilitation 2025, EDnews reports.
According to the survey conducted on the results of foreign trade reforms in the Asia-Pacific region between 2023-2025, Azerbaijan demonstrated a high figure of 92.5% in 2025 based on the average indicator of five areas covering trade facilitation, placing it in the top ten in the Eurasian region, the Azerbaijani Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication said.
The department head of the center, Nijat Hajizada, stated that Azerbaijan achieved a very high result by demonstrating 100% effectiveness in transparency, formal procedures, institutional cooperation and coordination indicators included in trade facilitation, 92.6% in paperless trade, and 72.2% in cross-border paperless trade.
In the survey, Azerbaijan has advanced in the transparency indicator by 53.3 percentage points compared to 2015, by 50 percentage points in formal procedures compared to 2015, by 8.3 percentage points compared to 2023, in institutional cooperation and coordination indicator by 33.3 percentage points compared to 2015, by 11.1 percentage points compared to 2023, in paperless trade by 37 percentage points compared to 2015, by 3.7 percentage points compared to 2023, and in cross-border paperless trade by 50 percentage points compared to 2015 and by 5.6 percentage points compared to 2023.
Overall, the survey demonstrates that Azerbaijan has continuously increased its implementation percentages in these indicators from 2015 to 2025.
In this survey, Azerbaijan achieved high results, surpassing most countries in the Asia-Pacific region to rank seventh in implementation performance, and also ranked first among North and Central Asian countries in the regional classification of the study, including among landlocked developing countries.
Azerbaijan has established itself as a leader within numerous prestigious international organizations where it holds membership. According to the UN Global Survey on Digital and Sustainable Trade Facilitation 2025, the country maintains leading positions among member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Organization of Turkic States, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Economic Cooperation Organization, and the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation. Furthermore, Azerbaijan has secured the second position after China among countries situated along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor.
