A court hearing was held at the Sabail District Court of Baku following the arrest of Ramil Aliyev (born in 1991), and Ismayil Hasanov (born in 1974) in a criminal case being investigated by the State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan, EDnews reports.
According to case materials, these individuals, who were identified, captured, and presented to the investigation as a result of operational-search measures carried out by the SSS, have committed various criminal acts abroad and in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Specifically, while serving sentences in foreign penitentiary institutions for intentional murder and other grave and especially grave crimes against individuals in foreign countries, they were personally selected by Yevgeny Prigozhin, the former leader of the Wagner armed group, evaded serving their sentences, and were involved in various military operations for agreed-upon payment.
They participated in training and combat operations in territories of different countries using firearms and explosive devices, and also worked to incite other citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan to engage in such activities outside the country's borders.
Currently, investigations are being conducted in the criminal case regarding Ramil Aliyev and Ismayil Hasanov, as well as other criminal acts against citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan and foreign countries.
Based on the results of the court hearing, a preventive measure of 4 months of detention was chosen for Ramil Aliyev and Ismayil Hasanov.
