Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on Tuesday following the meeting with United States President Joe Biden's senior adviser, Amos Hochstein, that the two parties remain committed to diplomatically resolving the situation at its northern border. However, Gallant stressed that Hezbollah's "aggression" is pushing them closer to "a critical point in decision-making regarding military activities in Lebanon."
The US diplomat arrived in Beirut on March 4 to discuss the rising tensions between Israel and Hezbollah and a possible diplomatic solution that would end nearly five months of cross-border strikes. Following the meeting with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Hochstein underlined that "escalation of violence" was in nobody's interest and stressed that "there is no such thing as a limited war." "A limited war is not containable," he added.
Meanwhile, an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon killed a total of four people following an anti-tank missile launch from the Lebanese territory which killed at least one person in Israel.
