There are strong and broad ties of cooperation and solidarity among various religious confessions in Azerbaijan, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Structures Ramin Mammadov said at a meeting with the representative of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Europe Jack Gerard, EDnews reports.
During the meeting, a detailed exchange of views took place on the religious situation in Azerbaijan, relations between the state and religious organizations, as well as traditions of religious tolerance. The head of the Committee noted that in countries where an atmosphere of tolerance has been formed, there is a favorable environment for the development of interreligious dialogue and cooperation.
The most striking example of this is Azerbaijan, where stable traditions of religious tolerance have historically developed, he said.
In turn, Jack Gerard emphasized that Azerbaijan's policy of expanding interreligious dialogue serves as a valuable example for other countries. He also expressed the interest of the religious organization he heads in developing mutual ties with Azerbaijan in this direction.
