Iran has no plan for immediate retaliation against Israel, a senior Iranian official told Reuters on Friday, hours after sources said Israel launched an attack on Iranian soil, Ednews reports.
"The foreign source of the incident has not been confirmed. We have not received any external attack, and the discussion leans more towards infiltration than attack," the Iranian official said on condition of anonymity.

Senior Iranian military commander Second Brigadier General Mihandoust said the sound of a loud explosion near Isfahan was caused by “air defense firing at a suspicious object” and that there was no “damage or incident,” Ednews reports citing Bloomberg.
Iran’s state TV said nuclear facilities in Isfahan were safe after explosions were reported in the central Iranian city. A strike on a nuclear site inside Iran would have been one of the most extreme measures for retaliation. However, direct strikes on Iran, still unconfirmed by Israel, are keeping tensions high.

The Israeli military has conducted missile strikes against Iran, a senior U.S. military official told NPR on Thursday. There are also reports of explosions in Iraq and Syria, Ednews reports.
The strikes appear to be the response Israel vowed to carry out after an Iranian attack on Sunday when Tehran fired hundreds of drones and missiles at Israel. Most of Iran's volleys were intercepted or caused little damage. The U.S. military official spoke on condition of anonymity Thursday.
Iran's Fars News Agency says explosions were heard in the central city of Isfahan, according to the Reuters News Agency.
The extent of Israel's strikes and the weapons used weren't clear.
The U.S. and other Western allies had been urging Israel to forego a military strike to avoid a regional conflict springing out of the Israel-Hamas war.
