The Azerbaijani government aims to be not only a producer but also an exporter of green energy, Finance Minister Sahil Babayev said at the signing ceremony of the loan agreement with the World Bank, EDnews reports.
He highly appreciated the World Bank Group's continuous support for development programs in Azerbaijan.
The minister noted the importance of the signed loan agreement as part of expanding cooperation with international financial institutions.
Babayev noted that Azerbaijan has rich renewable energy resources, especially high technical potential in the field of solar, wind, and hydropower, and stated that the government's goal is to turn the country not only into a producer but also an exporter of green energy.
The minister stressed that as the COP29 chair country, Azerbaijan, while remaining committed to the green agenda, is actively investing in increasing the share of renewable sources in the energy balance.
