Elchin Gasimov has been appointed Ambassador of Slovakia to Azerbaijan, EDnews reports, citing the press service of the president of Slovakia.
Elchin Gasimov is a native of the Kalbajar district of Azerbaijan.
He once held the post of Chargé d'Affaires of Slovakia in Azerbaijan. President of Slovakia Peter Pellegrini presented credentials to new heads of diplomatic missions in eight countries in Europe, Africa, and Asia at the Presidential Palace.
Pellegrini emphasized that current events in the world require a more active approach in the diplomatic service. At the same time, he also called for more attention to be paid to countries in Asia or Africa, since their political and economic importance is constantly growing.
"New opportunities are opening up here, and the need for closer cooperation with them in solving global problems or maintaining a functional international order is growing," the president of Slovakia noted.
