The Russian Foreign Ministry has handed over a verbal note to Azerbaijan's Ambassador Rahman Mustafayev, EDnews reports, citing the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Mustafayev was received by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Galuzin.
A protest was lodged with the ambassador in connection with the latest "unfriendly actions" of Baku. In the note, the Russian side indicated the need to release from custody Russian employees of Sputnik-Azerbaijan Igor Kartavykh and Yevgeny Belousov, who were detained in Baku.
Regarding the situation with the recent detention of Russian citizens, natives of Azerbaijan, in Yekaterinburg, it was emphasized that the investigative actions taken by Russian law enforcement agencies were carried out in accordance with Russian legislation as part of the investigation of criminal cases on the fact of serious crimes committed in previous years on the territory of Russia, including against citizens of Azerbaijan.
