The International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) has recently received a significant addition to its art collection with the presentation of the artwork "Echoes of the Motherland" by artist Vusala Sharifova.
IEPF President Umud Mirzayev discussed the portrait's importance with Ednews, stating, "This work was presented within the Karabakh Revival Fund project 'Colors of Karabakh: Through the Eyes of Young Artists.' The portrait 'Echoes of the Motherland' by Ms. Vusala captures the image of Aghabayim Khanum, the daughter of Karabakh Khan Ibrahimkhalil Khan, the aunt of famous Azerbaijani poet Khurshidbanu Natavan, and the wife of Qajar Shah Fatali Shah. My elder brother, who lived in Iran, longed for his homeland for many years."
As she said in her Bayati (one of the oldest forms of Azerbaijani folk poetry):
I'm in love with you, Karabakh,
Ah, Sheki, ah, Shirvan, Karabakh!
If Tehran becomes my paradise,
Still, don’t forget Karabakh.
Mr. Mirzayev emphasized that the artwork will be displayed at the Tartar Regional Vocational Training Center of IEPF. It will be prominently placed on the entrance board of the building, which houses Azerbaijan's first team of female deminers and serves as their training facility.
The acquisition of this artwork was made possible through a donation to the Karabakh Revival Fund by the International Eurasia Press Fund.
