"As you know, Armenians mark April 24 as their "genocide" day. As a historian, I can say that this is just a false claim, and there is no official information, facts or documents about the occurrence of such an event in history."
EDNews.net reports that this was told by Uzbek journalist, historian, honorary doctor of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences, correspondent of Eurasia Diary Analytical-Information Portal in Uzbekistan Shohrat Barlas in his appeal the Azerbaijani public.
He added that a statement on the fake Armenian genocide was published yesterday in the Galampir agency.
"It is which is considered one of the official information resources in the Republic of Uzbekistan. Moreover, the statement did not belong to the President of the separatist Republic of Abkhazia, which occupies Georgian lands and is not recognized as an independent state by Uzbekistan or the international community. The article also contained false and unscientific information, such as the fact that 1.5 million Armenians were killed. The news has sparked public outrage and condemnation in Uzbekistan. However, as a journalist of the EDNews.net in Azerbaijan and honorary doctor of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences, I am not satisfied with these accusations. I decided to appeal to the public of Azerbaijan, including Director of Institute of History Yaqub Mahmudov, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Press Council Aflatun Amashov, Deputy chairman of the Azerbaijan Press Council and President of International Eurasia Press Fund Umud Mirzayev, MP Ganira Pashayeva and the Timur scholar, historian and lawyer Mukhtar Mustafayev. My dear brothers and friends, you know that we have organized several media tours of journalists from Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan. As part of these visits, we took the guests to historical monuments such as the genocide monument in Guba and the Alley of Martyrs. We also mediated the signing of many collaboration agreements between Uzbek media executives visiting Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani media.
Unfortunately, it was revealed that the Galampir news agency, which misinformed the Uzbek public by publishing baseless articles about the fake Armenian genocide, also took part in the tours and signed cooperation agreements with the Azerbaijani media. I personally apologize to the Azerbaijani and Turkish communities for being a mediator on their behalf. I ask you to "veto" the news spread by the information resources, the names of which will be sent to you, including "Galampir", to prevent their visits to Azerbaijan and to cancel all contracts signed with them. Uzbeks, Azerbaijanis and Turks are of the same root, and these peoples are brothers. Let's prevent the activities of those who sow discord among our peoples, so that the unity and brotherhood of our nation will last forever.
