The Imam Mosque, located in the Amirjan settlement of Baku's Surakhani district, is set to undergo reconstruction.Under the order, 600,000 manats have been allocated from the President's Reserve Fund to the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations for repair and restoration work at the mosque.
According to EDnews President Ilham Aliyev has signed a corresponding order.
The chairman of the Office of Caucasus Muslims, Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh, informed the President of Azerbaijan and his wife about the work done at the mosque. It was indicated that in 2010 the President had signed an order on measures for the restoration of the temple which was initially known as the “Ittifag” mosque, a symbol of the unity of Muslims.
According to the order, with the aim of reconstructing the mosque with high quality and in accordance with centuries-old traditions of the national architectural heritage of Azerbaijan, funds were allocated from the reserve Fund of the President in the state budget.
