Because the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe did not pay enough attention to its relations with Azerbaijan, the Republic of Azerbaijan refused the membership of the organization.
How will this event affect Azerbaijan's foreign policy?
Speaking to Ednews on the subject, Peter Tase, the founder and the general director of the Azerbaijan-US Economic and Education Council, the representative of IEPF in the US, said that Azerbaijan has not lost anything by leaving PACE.
"PACE has had an aggressive relationship with Azerbaijan throughout its history. Representatives of the organization have always made provocative statements against Azerbaijani society and politics. In the last 3 years, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has treated not only Azerbaijan, but also the Turkic world, disregarding moral values. The point is that PACE ignores the existing conflict zones in the world."
The political expert said in his statement that PACE has not been able to carry out its activities productively in other conflict regions, as well.
"The organization does not pay enough attention to the ongoing wars in Ukraine and Israel, as well as civil wars in Africa. Azerbaijan does not need PACE as an institution that cannot fulfill its missions and tasks at the global level. Azerbaijan's future position in PACE is uncertain. PACE will be the biggest loser if the organization does not apply for re-membership to Azerbaijan in the future. Because PACE has neither fulfilled its mission nor its promises in Azerbaijan."
