During an interview with GQ, famous actor Keanu Reeves remembered his old alternative rock band Dogstar where he played bass guitar. One particular live performance over at 1992 Milwaukee Metal Fest came to mind where the band didn't exactly have the best time. He recalls:
"We played Milwaukee Metal Fest. Got killed. I think we played close to [belligerent New York hardcore-punk legends] Murphy's Law. Imagine. So we played a Grateful Dead cover, at Milwaukee Metal Fest.
"We were like, 'They hate us. What are we doing here? What can we do? Let's do the Grateful Dead cover.' They were just like, 'F... you, you suck.' I had the biggest grin on my face, man."
As Keanu revealed, this incident didn't really bother him that much, but he felt bad for the other guys since they were regular musicians. He also said during the interview:
"I guess it would have helped if our band was better."
Aside from the famous "Matrix" actor, Dogstar also featured drummer and actor Robert Mailhouse. The two met back in 1991 in a supermarket and decided to form their own rock band. Their initial name was Small Fecal Matter, which was later changed to BFS (or Big Fucking Shit), and then finally to Dogstar. Gregg Miller joined in 1992 as the lead vocalist and lead guitar player, and Bret Domrose was added in 1994 as a backing guitarist and vocalist. The group lasted until 2002 and they released one EP and two full-length albums during this period.
While we're at Keanu and music, it has been revealed last month that "Bill and Ted 3" is currently under way. The follow-up to the "Bogus Journey" is planned to be released sometime in 2020.
