The Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that Pakistan is concerned over the regional situation evolving in the context of Iran, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

Talking to media in Islamabad on Tuesday prior to leaving for Bishkek wherein he would lead the Pakistani delegation at the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, Qureshi said that in Kyrgyzstan, he will discuss the Iran issue with the foreign ministers of China and Russia particularly which are members of P-5 to get their input on the issue.

The foreign minister also said that he will have an opportunity to exchange views with foreign ministers of eight countries during the SCO Ministerial Meeting.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that he will also hold bilateral meetings with three dignitaries including the foreign ministers of China and Russia.

The two-day SCO Council of Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, being held in Bishkek on May 21-22, 2019, will approve important documents which will later be adopted by the Council of Heads of States meeting, to be held in Bishkek in June 2019.

During the SCO meeting, the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi will deliver remarks at the Plenary Session.

On the sidelines, the foreign minister is due to hold bilateral meetings with several participating ministers and the Secretary General of SCO Vladimir Norov.

The foreign minister’s participation in the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers’ Meeting illustrates the high importance that Pakistan attaches to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and to deepening its engagement with the region.
