Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, during his meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Japan’s Osaka, reaffirmed his country’s keenness to reveal the truth behind the murder of Italian citizen Giulio Regeni in Egypt in 2016.
According to an official statement, Sisi reiterated that Egypt fully supports cooperation between concerned authorities in both countries to reveal the circumstances of the case, praising shared bilateral ties.
Regeni, a 28-year old doctoral researcher, disappeared early in 2016 in the Egyptian capital. He was found dead in February of the same year, with his body bearing signs of torture.

Sisi voiced his support for the Libyan National Army, commanded by Khalifa Haftar, and its efforts in combating terrorism in Libya ahead of holding elections that would reflect the will of the people and restore calm in their country.
For his part, Conte expressed his country’s keenness on bolstering bilateral cooperation with Egypt on various levels amid its positive economic growth.
