Azerbaijan has become one of the most stable countries where human rights and freedoms have been protected in recent decades, Zahid Oruj, Chairman of the Human Rights Committee of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis (Parliament), Report informs.
According to EDnews speaking during the parliamentary discussion of the annual report of Azerbaijan’s National Coordinator on Combating Human Trafficking, Oruj stated that analyses conducted in combating human trafficking show that the situation in this area in Azerbaijan is in good condition.
During the reporting period, 616 cases of minors being involved in begging were detected, and appropriate sanctions were applied to their parents, measures were taken. The report noted that 85 percent of victims of human trafficking in 2005-2024 are women. The new National Action Plan for Combating Human Trafficking in Azerbaijan for 2025-2030 has been submitted to relevant authorities for feedback.
