No pandemic can hinder cooperation between Belarus and Azerbaijan. According to BelTA, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said this today at a meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Eurasia Diary reports citing Azeri Daily.
'Probably, our meeting to some extent will sound like a refrain against the background of all these events: pandemic and others. But true friends do not postpone the events that need to be held on time. No pandemic can prevent this,' said Alexander Lukashenko.
The Belarusian leader noted that the countries have diversified their relations in politics and economy, and 'they are absolutely not burdened with anything.'
'We do not interfere with anyone and no one is trying to interfere with us. Because if you want to do something, it is difficult to prevent it,' said the head of the Belarusian state.
Last year, the trade turnover between Belarus and Azerbaijan approached half a billion dollars. According to Alexander Lukashenko, this is a good result in terms of dynamics.
'As for our political relations, it is difficult to say what we are missing. We have excellent relations. And I am always proud of that. We have restored the warmest relations since the Soviet Union in all directions,' the President of Belarus stressed.
In turn, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that relations between Belarus and Azerbaijan are completely free from any problems. The Azerbaijani leader noted that cooperation between the countries is successfully developing both in the political sphere and in the economy.
According to Ilham Aliyev, such a dynamic has been imparted to the Belarusian-Azerbaijani relations that development is proceeding in all directions.
'Our mutual visits are regular. This all testifies to close political interaction, a high level of trust between the countries and a focus on results,' said Ilham Aliyev. 'Our relations are completely free of any problems. Our regular contacts allow us to simply summarise what has been done, chart the next steps and move forward as two friends, partners.'
