"The sovereign right of Azerbaijan is also accepted at the international court level."
This statement was made by Azerbaijani MP Konul Nurullayeva to Ednews.
MP noted that this was once again confirmed by the rejection of International Court of Justice for the request that the installation of the border crossing point at the beginning of the Lachin road was "illegal":
"With this decision, the Court actually confirmed that the establishment of the state border crossing point of Azerbaijan is recognized by international law. It was also acknowledged that there is no obligation for Azerbaijan to withdraw its armed forces from the Lachin road. Of course, with the establishment of this state border crossing point, Azerbaijan has the right to fully control the Lachin road, and the decision of the international court confirms this."
According to her, at the same time, with this decision, it was determined that Armenia's claim on Azerbaijan's violation of international decisions were groundless:
"The International Court of Justice supported Azerbaijan's rightful position and announced that it recognizes Azerbaijan's sovereign territories. In a word, despite the Armenian propaganda, Azerbaijan's sovereign right is accepted at the international court level. The disruptive efforts of other patrons, including Armenia and France, in this direction also failed. In general, all steps of Azerbaijan are based upon norms and principles of international law."
"Last month, Armenian side fired firearms at the soldiers of the State Border Service serving at the Lachin Border Control Point, resulting in the wounding of a soldier of the State Border Service, which was a step aimed at disrupting peace in the region.This was a deliberate provocation by the Armed Forces of Armenia against Azerbaijan. At a time when there are fertile conditions for the reintegration of Armenians living in Karabakh, the activity of disruptive forces is being observed. Despite these provocations, Azerbaijan again demonstrated a constructive approach. Due to security measures, the passage through Lachin checkpoint was stopped. The zeal of the European officials financed by the Armenian lobby has no basis either. Because it is clear from the video footage that the road is open for humanitarian purposes",K.Nurullayeva concluded.
