Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has resigned from his post, Ednews informs referring to Civil.ge.
He has just confirmed his resignation at a special briefing at the Government Administration.
Referring to internal inter-party democracy, he said it’s necessary to “give others a chance.”
He also said he had accepted an offer to become Chair of the Georgian Dream party.

Personnel changes are expected in the government and the ruling party of Georgia - Georgian Dream. Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and party head Irakli Kobakhidze will exchange positions for the first time and will announce this on February 1 following the Georgian Dream congress, Report informs referring to Georgian media.
This issue was discussed during a meeting of the party’s political council, which took place on January 24.
Thus, Kobakhidze will take the post of prime minister, and Garibashvili is vying for the post of party chairman.
But it is not excluded that this position could be taken by Bidzina Ivanishvili’s son, Uta Ivanishvili.
