The Chinese Ministry of Commerce on Monday urged the United States to stop "politicizing" and "weaponizing" economic and trade issues, calling on Washington to lift restrictions against Beijing, Ednews reports.
The remarks come in response to Washington's proposal draft which seeks to restrict and monitor US investments in China for artificial intelligence, computer chips, and quantum computing. The rule could limit American companies' investments in China and hinder the normal development of Chinese industry.
"China expresses serious concern about this and strongly opposes it, and also reserves the right to take appropriate measures," the ministry's spokesperson added.
