Mayor of Paris Anna Hidalgo (pictured) assured Friday that the attacks on the French high-speed lines "will have no impact" on the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, which is due today from 7:30 pm CET, Ednews reports.
Hidalgo said the arson attacks on the French rail network are "unacceptable," but expects that people who have to participate in the opening of the Olympic Games "will surely find another way" to get to the location, labeling the incident a "sabotage." "It's unacceptable what happened, but it won't have any impact on tonight's ceremony, because it has no consequences on the Île-de-France region's transport network,” she stated.
Her comments were made to journalists after meeting with Spanish King Felipe VI at the Spanish embassy in Paris.
