Sahiba Gafarova: Islamic world still faces serious challenges

Despite its rich historical and cultural heritage, as well as vast natural and human resources, the Islamic world continues to face serious problems, according to Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis, EDnews reports.

Speaking at the 20th Session of the Parliamentary Union of OIC Member States in Baku, Gafarova highlighted poverty, socio-economic inequality, armed conflicts, humanitarian crises, terrorism, and extremism as key issues that hinder sustainable development.

"To overcome these challenges and fully realize its potential, the Islamic world needs unity and solidarity based on values such as peace, tolerance, harmony, and justice," she said.

Gafarova further stressed that in today's global environment, Muslim countries must act together, support one another, and work toward achieving common goals.
