Technology companies that develop artificial intelligence, including OpenAI, Meta Platforms and Google, have agreed to adopt new security measures in a bid to fight against the exploitation of children, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday, citing international anti-human trafficking organization Thorn that participated in the organization of this initiative.
According to the report, The predators' abilities have been boosted by a range of new tools based on generative AI, so the goal of this new AI giants' alliance is to enable predators to create exploitative materials and to prevent modern tools from harming more children.
"We want to be able to change the course of this technology to where the existing harms of this technology get cut off at the knees," Rebecca Portnoff, vice president of data science at Thorn, commented.
