The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Leyla Abdullayeva highlighted Azerbaijan’s efforts on the international peace and security in her speech delivered in panel discussions dedicated to the UN 75th anniversary held at ADA University, Baku.
“Over the past 75 years, the United Nations have decisively established itself as the universal organization working for noble goals of maintaining international peace and security developing friendly relations among the states. Purposes and principles of the Charter of the organization have led a solid foundation for a more peaceful, prosperous just world. The idea of the UN widely supported and shared by the people of Azerbaijan and the government of Azerbaijan,” she said
Abdullayeva also mentioned the current challenges the world is facing. She noted that the international security environment has changed and the balance of power international relations has also shifted.
“Azerbaijan has contributed with its military personnel to the UN in peacekeeping operations to advance efforts of maintenance of peace and security globally."
She also stated that Azerbaijan contributes to peace by chairing Non-Alignment Movement the second largest political platform after the UN.
“Just for information during the first few months of our chairmanship, Azerbaijan made 28 statements,” she told.
Leyla Abdullayeva concluded her speech with saying that Azerbaijan obtained serious achievements in combating poverty, gender equality, tolerance among people which all of these include Sustainable Development Goals.
