Today is the 102nd anniversary of the March 31 genocide, one of the tragic memories of the Azerbaijani people. On March 30 and April 3, 1918, Armenian armed groups from the Baku Soviet and Dashnakt party Armenia attacked Azerbaijanis in various parts of Baku and in the regions of Shamakhi, Guba, Khachmaz, Lankaran, Hajigabul, Salyan, Zangazur, Karabakh, Nakhchivan to commit the greatest massacre in history.
Umud Mirzayev, President of the International Eurasia Press Fund and Deputy Chairman of the Press Council, spoke in the "ATV Sahar" programme about the genocide committed by Armenians as well as the rapid spread of Armenian crimes in the local and world media.
Unfortunately, the facts about the March massacres and the events of 1905-1907 were not the subject of any research or press during the Soviet era. The Armenian campaign is based on injustice. The reason we are strong is because we are fair and based on facts.
Richardas Lapaitis, who witnessed the Khojaly genocide, recently held a big event at the University of Calgary in Canada. Our representative in China, Seattle, Malik Ayyub Sumbal, and dozens of people in our team speak about these events, and their fair approach to this issue shows that we are strong.
We must make effective use of the opportunities of the new media and explain our problems in foreign languages. If we do this, the souls of our fathers and grandfathers will always rest in peace.
Umud Mirzayev also strongly condemned the March 31 elections in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, i.e the Mountainous Karabakh, despite the strong calls of the World Health Organisation (WHO), as well as risking the fate of the peoples of the Caucasus as a whole, at a time when particularly the world is facing the threat of coronavirus.
Exactly one hundred and two years ago, our people were fighting to the death against foreign invaders. Today, our independent Azerbaijan together with the countries of the world is struggling with the coronavirus pandemic. Armenian vandals are holding "elections" in this critical period, and prticularly on March 31, in the so-called Nagorno-Karabakh. I think that Armenian separatism is more dangerous for humanity today than the coronavirus.
I am confident that we will honourably free ourselves from the pandemic of a hundred years ago and the pandemic of today!
