A court in China executed a man who set his ex-wife on fire. The man, Tang Lu was executed by a court in the southwestern Sichuan province, according to Global Times.
Lu set fire to his ex-wife on fire in September 2020 while she was live streaming on Douyin, a video platform similar to Tiktok. The woman, 30, known online as Lamu, died of her injuries a few weeks later. The incident created public outrage in China.
Lu was executed in southwestern Sichuan province. Lamu would share snippets of her life and the Shichuan countryside on Douyin. According to Lamu's sister, she has suffered domestic abuse at the hands of Lu for several years before the couple got divorced. Lu sought out Lamu several times asking her to remarry, but Lamo refused.
Lamu, a farmer was live streaming when Lu appeared behind her, poured gasoline on her and set her on fire. Lu was arrested soon after and was sentenced to death in October 2021. Lu had appealed his death sentence, but lost in January.
